We deem today a rest day and spend it drinking coffee, then more coffee. Listening to live music while we drink beer at one of the many breweries in town and restocking at whole foods. Then we retreat to the lobby of last nights hotel and occupy space while we try and wait out the thunderstorms that roll in one after another. A bit before 6pm we seize the opportunity between sets to make it into the national forest and into the area we can camp. We stumble across a great spot nestled beside a creek and set up the type of camp we have all been dreaming about since the beginning of our trip. The thunderstorms do eventually convince us to retreat to the tents but not before back country cocktails and a campfire.
